I did it! I finally accidentally named a private package that already existed on pypi and pip tried to install that instead. From now on, I'm adding prefixes to all my private package names.

So you want to add access levels to #python with naming conventions? Great, now all the linters hate you because none of them agree on how public an underscore variable should be. Is it private, protected, friend, and is that relative to which *other* language?
And it gets worse, because there is no access levels, tools like vulture can't tell what is the public interface, so you end up adding @public attributes everywhere.

Am I right that API gateway can't do per-user (per-ip) rate-limiting? So if you need rate limiting, API gateway is just "system-wide surge protection" and you still need *another* solution for that one user who wants to make 100 requests in the same second.
Opensource is pure chaos but doesn't immediately look like that because people are so eager to learn & follow norms, except when they're not. But it is still pure chaos. Big orgs should have a buffer between them & the chaos. This buffer is going to be private pypi/etc proxies
OSS means as a user you got the right to fork, you don't have a right to not be f*k'd over by the maintainer unless you fork. So a risk adverse, big org approach should be: fork everything by perma-caching the packages in a proxy & cloning the underlying source repos.

I know NASA publishes a lot of their code, you know, in case someone else has an identical custom-made rocket. I was thinking more along the likes of OIT paying someone to fix jquery or the like.

So battle between in #gitlab vs #codebuild - Gitlab supports arbitrary base images steps. Codebuild does only thru docker-in-docker. Gitlab just has a richer syntax by far.
Codebuild looks like you can do a local build. Gitlab looks like you need a runner which requires rights to register a local runner.

Twitter seems to be prone to "there are children starving in Africa" arguments. I disagree with proposition P, so I say, "There are children starving in Africa! People are suffering" Therefore, not P. But P is a situation experienced by many people, including US 8 year olds.

IDEA: shared computing network, where instead of getting paid to provide compute time on a machine, society gives free pass you to violate financial security laws. What would we compute? Doesn't matter, "free pass to violate securities laws" sounds good right?

The former just never works, the latter has no networking. And my brain has decided, it will never change ever.
I think if I saw a demo of them working, the more responsible epistemological stand would be to believe it was faked.
