What a confusing announcement. They're banning doxxing. But they didn't want to use the word, so it makes it sound like it is against the rules to write/post *about* people. https://x.com/Safety/status/1465683094581792771

What do y'all think of Medium's business model? It is very youtube like.
-impossible to find content w/o relying on youtube-like recommendation algorithm
-free to read some
-subscribers can read more
-writers can opt-in get a cut of subscribers $
-other writers are just exploited
exploited = demonetized. (Which is okay I guess for 10cents, but who knows how much writers who don't opt-in *could* be making)

I'm on a pydoc-question answering spree on StackOverflow.
I think 10% of all questions about tools are about how to fix the path so you can find your command line tool. This is true for all tools.
I still don't understand weak references.
Maybe "declared variable is treats memory as a volatile cache"?

META: I'm thinking that some % of people with private accounts, would be better served by putting "no one can reply to tweet" onto opinion tweets. Not everyone on all days is mentally & emotionally ready for internet fight club & they shouldn't have to self censor.
(yeah, bad people could "abuse" no-replies, but you weren't going to change their mind on anything anyhow)
♡ 0 ↻ 0When opinion writers for the NYT write an editorial, they don't invite everyone physically into their kitchen to voice their opposition, even if the editorialist is in theory pro-dialectic and such.

Bam, I can see all 3 people on my feed that were hacking on the weekend, 'cause Github is down.
For an app, which will never be imported by another app, wouldn't everything be private except the main or entrypoint function? Access levels outside of 3rd party libs are so arbitrary.
I'm looking forward to the day when BS abbreviations in code go out of style
- space dropping, e.g. expertsexchange
- random disemvoweling, e.g. xprtchne
- prefix train, expsexcha
- semiacronym, ExSC
- f*k it, it is 1982, E
- pure random drop, eptehge
Correct: expert_sex_change
What can I say python, there is just a lot to unpack here. I find it all overwhelming, too.
E ValueError: too many values to unpack (expected 2)
What kind of bankruptcy are we doing today?
"Github bug reports" is the overly optimistic idea that techies can cope with anything other than effusive praise.
Voila- 4 kinds of api docs displayed in github pages: https://matthewdeanmartin.github.io/pydoc_fork/index.html
... two more as soon as I figure out this mkdocs stuff
In the time it takes to create a frustrating failure with rst & sphinx, I have
- forked pydoc & fixed it
- ran pycco
- ran portray
- ran pdoc3
- ran pydoctor

What patterns are there for naming forked projects?
I went with the unimaginative *_fork

META: I don't know how celebs on twitter put up with it. I get 3 "you're wrong" replies and I'm irritated. On a good day I have the sense to click "mute this thread" For a large account that must happen on every tweet.

Don't do it:
1) ya ain't convincing anyone
2) ya don't really want to hear more about the opposing opinion
3) Twitter sucks for adversarial debate, this isn't debate class with a moderator & formal rules♡ 1 ↻ 0
Today in linting wars:
- You must update to latest package version, the old one is probably insecure
- You must pin packages, the latest one could be highjacked.

IDEA: Literate programming, but your documentation must follow the Hero's Journey
I'm going to use a Class hierarchy to render data to multiple formats. Sometimes it will render HTML, sometimes it will render rainbow farts, sometimes it will render the data as little insects that from a distance form a jolly pattern. Oop-la!
There is some irony in how poorly the pydoc source code is documented.
new word: "Build-rot" for how a build, over time begins to fail on re-runs even if the code has not.

- lock file
- version file (unless I want some of my code to actually be objects in a live git server, i.e. tags)
