I have a joke about twitter template jokes, but a quick search shows that 18,700 people have already posted it.

Two branches, one pipeline spanning four environments. When the two branches enter the pipeline, they fight until one is victorious and is promoted to production.
Man, some ephemeral kubernetes environments would be nice, beats asking for 7 environments (or 3*branches +1) https://x.com/mistersql/status/1428084557547548689/photo/1
Thinking about ECS health checks again. A health check should detect problems that can be solved by rebooting. That's almost nothing outside of memory leaks. And if you got memory leaks, you should fix that with code.

New naming conventions. All names will be named:
[Name of company you work for]+[Technology you are using]+"Name" + [the name of the thing]
Where + means _, - or change-in-case, chosen at random.
It is important to have "Name" in the name because people just don't recognize em
For example, a loop iterator at twitter is:
Twitter-Javascript_NameI
A temp variable at Microsoft is
microsoftAzure-Name_temp♡ 0 ↻ 0

15 minute stand up is enough time to report things are going fine. If things aren't going fine, 15 minutes isn't realistic. So 15 minute standup ASSUMES the status is A OK, in which case it should be canceled. When it isn't OK, then it should be a whole different meeting.
I used to like the idea of 15 minute status meetings.
♡ 0 ↻ 015 minute status meetings is just a teenager saying, "fine, if your going to make me, I'm going to agree to a format that achieves nothing for no one"

IDEA: Can we do a study with real blind people and see if they can figure out an elephant? The rational response is to say, "Is this Cthulhu or something? Get me out of here!"

Any #gitkraken users here? Here is where you can go vote to campaign for better tab handling features. Once you got 15+ tabs open, you can't tell which repo is which. Heck on chrome I got 28 tabs open now and know which is which by the favicons.

I made this playlist of videos on Modal Realism. Some possible you in an alternate, possible universe you will click and watch them all, so if you click thru, it will be entertaining but redundant.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcAljDQ0plzXyjmldRId5k8Xpa-CVnQcs
Modal universes are supposed to be inaccessible, i.e. have no effect or bearing on our universe, but after you think about all your possible selves, what you infer they are doing now affects your behavior, which messes with the idea that these universes are inaccessible.

Python needs new syntax for
try:
x = int(y)
except:
x = 0
Because as soon as you have 1 valid case someone is going to just wrap all their code in
try:
# 5000 (or more than 1) lines of code
except:
pass
And say, "well, sometimes it is valid to have try/except:"

F5'a BIG-IP user experience is awful. They should know that these things fail 10x in a row and let users queue up login attempts as fast as they can type them. Right now you have to wait 15-20 seconds between attempts
F5 et al, probably know nothing can be improved in this stack because it is a heterogenous set of uncoordinated technologies (i.e. why fix anything if it is the fault of something else in the client's stack), so it should lean into UX features that acknowledge that nothing works.

TIL: 1/3 of my favorite Kpop songs are by Chung Ha (김청하) & I didn't know it because I wasn't paying attention to who sings what. (Which is tricky because I think producers matter as much to Kpop quality as lead performer(s)), Fwiw, the next 1/3 of favs are Mamamoo.
Car tax & title laws just aren't set up to deal with family finances & family politics. Who owns car? Well, it is complicated. Title tax law & gift tax law seem to think we should pay 4.5% every time the car changes hands in the family.
And gift taxes on stuff you might get back from family members. Or might not get back. And is that a loan? A gift? A wash? Man, it might take a few decades for everything to net out.

The main message about the 15 minute standup meeting is that that no message matters, all that matters is the meeting end in 15 minutes. Since it is so unimportant, it should be cancelled and replaced with a meeting that allows people to say what they need to say.
I think this is a dysfunctional reaction to other problems
- no agenda
- wrong people invited
- not a safe environment (people BS when the status is bad news)
- no audience (status needs an audience who gives a $#!+)
The 15m limit should be 0m if there is no will to resolve these♡ 0 ↻ 0

Knee injury thread
I injured my kneed just barely twisting it. There are like 5+ things that commonly break, I probably messed up my meniscus, the C shaped pads between the big stick things (bones for you scientists)
1st I tried limping, my go-to remedy. Didn't help much. Knee hurt all the time.
2nd I tried Dr Youtube, who prescribed:
- Tumeric (for inflammation)
- Cherries (for inflammation)
- Getting a cane.♡ 0 ↻ 0The cane made a big difference, two days of using a cane and my knee didn't start hurting until late in the day, instead of right away.
♡ 0 ↻ 0The Tumeric is also an effective excuse for going out to get Parathas.
♡ 0 ↻ 0I learned I was doing stairs wrong. Go up stairs one at a time, leading with your good leg. Go down stairs one at a time, leading with your *BAD* leg. Somehow this was not intuitive for me.
♡ 0 ↻ 0I also had to watch several videos on how to walk with a cane so you are actually taking weight off your bad knee. Counter-intuitively you hold the can in the hand opposite the bad knee & the cane moves mirror image to the bad leg.
♡ 0 ↻ 0Don't copy Dr House on TV, because he walks with a cane wrong. Dr Youtube badmouthed his bad style several times. Real doctors hate Dr Youtube, but Dr Youtube hates TV doctors.
♡ 0 ↻ 0Anyhow, this shows the importance of exercise, because if I wasn't a regular runner, when people ask why I have a cane, I'd have to say I was old. Instead I can say, it is a sports injury.
♡ 1 ↻ 0Almost a year later - my greatest discovery is the pain generally stays away if I can keep my knees physically warm, i.e. long thermal underwear.
