Lifehack: put your alarm clock in the kitchen. After a few years of that, you'll be able to sleep walk to the kitchen, turn off your phone and go back to sleep as if nothing ever happened.
I'm watching pers-productivity videos, eg bullet journaling- seems like these systems favor people who are good at task switching. I get the most done when I'm allowed to work on just 1 item, no task switching. This doesn't work for all environments or tasks.
The carcasses of unmerged/unclosed pull requests are a warning to future contributors.
The market price for a mock tech interview is ballpark $150-$300.

IDEA: Whiteboard IDE. Sort of like bullet journals, but with instagram-quality layout & flourishes.

Hey people, someone in @johnthad 's network is looking for a coop/internship for the summer involving Comp Sci work in the DC area. Reply if your company has a coop/internship program.
It is so bright outside, was it always like this
Oh shoot, this wasn't parody. Just this week I was in a meeting where we discussed the possibility of 4+ microservices to handle a user object

63 different ways to do multiline values in yaml. Please consider each in turn before picking one

How Deltek sold the world on the idea that your time account is most accurate when you use strings like
0001.0001.0002.0001 is better than "Travel"... that bemuses me.
This is like they want you to fail.
#MSTeams and their principle of least privilege, now if they'd reduce the attack surface more and keep MS Team of my computer entirely. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1375495074642071554/photo/1
Interesting. I've seen 2x in my career a big programming problem due to floating-point being used instead of fixed or vica versa. Round too often, huge errors. Ignore rounding, then quantities can disappear. https://twitter.com/bigendiansmalls/status/1375240454598430721
IDEA: For people tracking Jira tickets in Wiki's, we could set up a 2nd Jira system to track our Jira tickets. To really get full value though, we should also have a Jira system to track the Jira systems, we will probably need quite a few.

microservice: Destruction complete after 5m36s
It's total annihilation
IDEA: grant Disney copyright to coronavirus DNA so their laywers will force the government to prohibit circulating the virus without royalties. Contact tracing & quarantine would get adoption in all jurisdictions until all the unauthorized copying stopped.

What's the architectural impact of (accidentally) banning EC2 machines in an organization?
(Funny that the other org I'm thinking of, banned everything in AWS except EC2!)

What is the pay premium on clearance work? Is there one? Is it negative?
Google says, $5000-$15000 premium, but that has to be dwarfed by the private sector vs public sector penalty. (i.e. lower salary from work as a gov't employee or contractor vs working for, say a bank)

Soooo the Gitlab npm package registry is an ad for Jfrog Artifactory or AWS CodeArtifact? This is starting to make sense now.
ref: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/packages/npm_registry/#authenticate-to-the-package-registry
A search for example .gitab-ci.yml files in public gitlab that have successfully deployed a package to the npm repository is turning up not much success by lots of users, lot of attempts.

Roundpoint is got to be the most stressful mortgage company I've ever dealt with. I owe them $78 (whole mortgage is paid off) and they want to make it as hard as possible to pay it off. Shady business.
IDEA: greatest of all time simulator
Roundpoint mortgage, they won't take your payment to pay off a mortgage (cashed the check tho!) and they follow up by a delinquent payments call.
Shady business.

burn down chart observation- when the criteria for closing a ticket gets cranked up (more signs offs), the close date of a ticket moves closer & closer to the end. This causes the curve to bow outward & it gets harder & hard to guess where the curve intersects x-axis (completion)
Unless a burn-down chart is somewhat close to linear, it doesn't have much information about when the tickets will all be finished.

I don't think WFH is fundamentally problematic, I think this really is how long it takes to gather the data & start realizing what works & what doesn't, to get a mix of habits & social norms that are sustainable.
"empty time getting filled with work" - yup, that.
WFH means, no more 8 hours of work, 8 at home, more like 16 hours of work & home mixed into one. https://x.com/globeandmail/status/1373683590949707781
So for Maryland's vaccine site, you can't pre-register until your demographic is eligible. If you pre-register early, they threaten you with legal consequences. I just want to get in line, not participate in fairness theater.
https://onestop.md.gov/preregistration
Hey Maryland want to know which group I'm in? Just ask, I'll tell you group 3 and then you send me a notice when group 3 is ready. No need to threaten legal consequences for trying to get a vaccine. Talk about perverse incentives.

Status: Pour some more coffee so I can bend space & time & see 12 weeks in the future so I can fill up Jira & make SAFe happy.
Chrome's tab groups don't automatically group by domain & they don't persist after you close your browser. Almost cancels their benefit.
I (in Maryland) can get in line for a shot in a month or less.
I am almost eligible and you can too!
