I just don't know who I am any more, phone can't receive SMS messages. Github doesn't know who I am either.
Like philosophers say, to really know yourself, you need to send yourself an SMS message to prove you also possess your phone.

Proposal to reform pi day. What people don't understand the meaning of is Pi day. 3.14 is 3.14 units along an infinite number line. Month 3 is 3/12 along a finite segment. 14 is 14 of 30 along a finite segment. So fractionally, 3/14 is more like .25 + (.5/12).
Now if years go on forever, that is the first unit that is infinite and the years can be fractional, so pi day happens every three years 14.1592% through the year.
The real meaning of pi day is eating pie with family or alone because you won't shut up about math.♡ 0 ↻ 0

Good option for orgs where if you ask a question on Slack, it is gone in 2 days because the org won't pay for Slack.
Wrt to budgeting, this might be a good idea. Like research papers that sometimes bundle the code they used, it be handy for code used for budget forecasts to be bundled with the spending bills. https://twitter.com/MuseHill/status/1372245173736984578
The precautionary principle says, if you are in a car whose brakes have failed and you're speeding to the cliff, stay in the car, maybe accelerate a bit, because doing anything different is risky. https://x.com/jsylvest/status/1372225995013521408

unittests on 1 dev's workstation, let them hit the database & real APIs
-
build master building 12+ apps? nope, nope, nope. Only pure unittests. Integration tests will have to run on some other day
-
Folk doing unittests for 1 app shouldn't solve the probs of builds for many apps
What would be nice is pypi, but for regular files. So zip, but
- some concept of versioning
- a packaging/metadata/unzipping process
- an updating/reverting process
- maybe a concept of dependency trees
I'd use it for config files, bash scripts.
You can already see people "abusing" pypi as a place to put essentially data files, sometimes with a nice python wrapper, sometimes it is just a package with a data file, which is just a file as far as python goes.

This going to be some ham fisted effort to remove opensource from the gov't? There are going to be vendors that love the idea of switching to paid licensed components for everything. https://x.com/weekstweets/status/1371813888354828293
How did they deploy this app so fast? Surely the SDLC & CAB would make sure that they did the prudent thing and did 12 months of checking for mistakes before going live.

society would rather experiment with mass WFH than go to therapy, I mean, to allow any new housing and transit to be built near offices. https://x.com/JoeUchill/status/1371252652894531584
I like policies that take into account real human behavior, in this case, no one reads all the material that is sent to them. The alternate policy is to just tell people to read everything or silently expect them to read & that isn't going to happen. https://x.com/zamandigital/status/1371308312323629056
Better ideas:
- Move back the clock 1 hr every month.
- Move forward the clock 1 second every day.
- Spin the clock every morning and announce the time in the news.
- Move the clock forward 1 hr, move it back one hour, shortly after the alarm clock goes off.

haaaa haaa haaa hahahahahah. Everywhere in DC, the purchasing of small things indicates yogurt culture. Small expenses either don't happen or they are pushed onto staff or take 6 months to happen. https://x.com/QuinnyPig/status/1370576770601132035
When doing interviews, I ask people about tooling, and they're just bemused. Unless the org buys something for everyone, it can't be purchased. So devs being a tiny percent of staff, never get tools.

We should switch back to doing databases in this. Its been downhill for data availability ever since we gave up on baked clay tablets. https://x.com/eggleroy/status/1371110805878497288
I think it was working with 8bit Atari Basic that left me with no patience for "a code editor should show the unmost contempt for user experience", so I refuse to use vi. I did try to learn edlin as an extended joke. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1371107941529612290
ATARI BASIC. Interpreter is the IDE. You turn off the computer and your code is gone, unless you saved it to tape.

VBA for Access. Alt-F11 to reveal that a full IDE is an Easter egg in MS-Office, accidentally giving dev tools to everyone.

I'm gonna sell certs that say you "own" a transferable, unique "copyright" to Mickey Mouse. Except the only right you get is to sell it again. You can't actually use that "copyright" like Disney to sell lunch boxes or anything, *not even* avoiding infringement suits from Disney. https://x.com/GavinSpavin/status/1370406363998863372
But you can sell the cert to some greater fool.

musing about cybersecurity career paths, all these reqs for "zillion years of cybersecurity exp" & I'm like, all devs are supposed to make the security team happy & that requires implementing secure code/secure infra, but that isn't what the resumes will say, it will say: App Dev
I'll watch this covid party from my window, same as the last 12 months. The goal here to create confidence for people to return to restaurants or to let employers force staff back to work? https://x.com/ErinatThePost/status/1369387819479797769

Someone needs to make this for Github, so that you pet dies if you don't feed it with daily commits. So Habitica, but with better Github integration. https://x.com/type__error/status/1368579177411211264
Camera's off is burden of communication shifting.
Is there a devops manifesto that lists what the elements are sort of like the agile one?
- infrastructure as code
- no wall between server admins & dev teams
- more things....
