Bools are the best data type, you get a base 50% chance that it is set correctly before you even start to write code.

What does AWS Inspector want? To put an end to all Linux AMIs & distros except one or two.
That world of Linux AMIs? you can't use any of them, you must only use the 1 or 2 amis that were built specifically to deal with AWS Inspector's ruleset.
Why the marketplace team doesn't do something about this, I don't know. If the same rule set was applied to Docker, we'd have to stop using dockerhub.
♡ 0 ↻ 0Heck, why the ec2 team doesn't do anything about this? The most secure CIS ami according to Amazon Inspector is a honey pot & EC2 should be nuked from outspace (with many nukes at each data center)

Rate limiting access to public data... if you do, it is making that data less public, if you don't, bad actors & bad 3rd party code ddos the service. Doesn't help that NOAAs political appointees are trying to privatize the data. https://x.com/ripleymj/status/1337027532214906880
Cyberpunk 2077 gives us a preview of self-driving cars of the future. (imagine if every "driver" of every car had the same algo & same bugs) https://twitter.com/screencuisine/status/1336878002618073089
Retweeting because this idea occurred to me again. After the third time, I should just implement it already. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1285040994602319875
Oh, this is so much worse than regular ddos because the bill is linear with the attack instead of the server just falling over. https://x.com/benawad/status/1336759281157353475
I wish I could do math jokes, e.g. "Figuring out why this is funny is left as an exercise to the reader" https://x.com/mistersql/status/1336809416633495552
I think my joke is asking for too much work from the listener. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1336809144507043842
Fed devs, your security teams probably don't know how to scan AWS lambdas if they are not backed by containers in ECR. I'll be switching all my lambdas over to container backed ones ASAP. https://x.com/dougtoppin/status/1336694446314893314

This actually makes sense, Uber & WeWork were "pump & dump" stock swindles with many, many more zeros. I wonder what my retirement funds exposure is/was. https://x.com/doctorow/status/1336317544408305665

someone: command line stuff is wonderful!
command line: backspace in a password is interpreted as part of the password and you can't see how many characters you've typed

programming jokes but dad (that's me)
programming jokes but with a build script and unit tests (stretch goal)
AWS lambda's documentation says, "oh just create a venv and zip it up & upload it" this only works if your desktop OS is AWS Linux. So AWS devs at amazon use Linux as their desktop?
(more likely, they only tested on toy apps with pure python libraries)
KATA: implement tetration & pentation (repeated exponentiation & repeated tetration). You'd get to solve problems with ints being too small & maybe try out uout bigint libraries.
This would almost make a good interview question-- a few loops and two real-world problems- data structure choice & having to resort to libs written by smarter people.

SQL has 3 value logic, why not 104+ value logic. https://x.com/matiasgoldberg/status/1336078549497901063
It is not good enough to limit all lines of code and yaml to 80 characters. All constants must be less than 80. All strings must be less than 80 characters. All bytes arrays must be 80 or less. Why? Because that is how many characters my Atari 400 could display in a line.
I'm subtweeting you sonar. This 80 character limit on yaml lines puts a limit on value sizes.

Does anyone have a way to explain Graham's number that makes any sense? The 7-year-old asked me. I can at least describe a googleplex (1+google zeros), although can't describe what a googleplex might measure. For Graham's number I can do neither.

[ MS SQL 4 linux -> EXCEL (Oledb linked 'server') ] wrapped in docker. But what you really want is to run VBA against excel.exe. Docker would help because multiple excel.exe process will play poorly with each other & stuck in memory a lot https://twitter.com/skyetetra/status/1335632146891898886

I want to see Red Dwarf, GoT Season 8 & the Scooby Doo Movie. Right now, it is easier for me to buy these used on disc than it is to evaluate the streaming options & learn to use the apps.
