So instead of "it's like a cat on a hot tin roof", y'all can just say, "It's just like @mistersql's resume" (current workplace excluded) https://x.com/mistersql/status/1294677665186820096
The play "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" doesn't actually have a quotable quote that describes hopelessly going from one painful situation to another.
Except for the title.

tired: pipenv install pylint --dev
wired: pipx install pylint
The former puts dev crap in with your app & tools conflict with each other. The later gives you one global, isolated instance of pylint. On the whole, less pain.
Server OS designers are all "oh we are so high availability" & then the OS's own subcomponents flood logs until the server goes down.
Here is a blog about my terraform build script (the stuff that verifies the .tf files are good-ish)
Published on Blogger because wordpress hates me.
https://mattwalksintoabar.blogspot.com/2020/08/my-current-terraform-build-script.html
My version of wordpress either is so afraid of code injection or so eager to execute XSS that I can't write a blog post talking about bash script.
IDEA: terraform for building websites. The file extension will be .wtf
I'll still vote one way or another. The BLM (and outdoors right-wing protests) showed that civic action is less risky than a bar or restaurant (or office)
If the White House wanted to torture protesters, is there anything stopping him? It is happening in Belarus right now, I was curious about what gets in the way of an executive order to torture US citizens protesting the government.
I'm imagining it is like an "every dog gets its first bite for free" thing, where it would be taken to court afterwards, but the WH could still do the initial rounds of torture.

To be fair, exact hour estimates are also fiction. https://x.com/rondoftw/status/1294289843615182854
The security scanner says I should create an s3 bucket for access logs. Done! Security scanner says I should create an s3 bucket for access to the access logs. We're going to need a lot of buckets. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1294071105335025665/photo/1
If the mail system breaks down, then that is a lot of bills arriving late, payments arriving late. I just don't see how they'll be able to shut down the mail system when large businesses depend on it as well.
A perfect cross-functional team of specialists means no one can talk about anything that anyone else on the team understands or cares about.
But you also need a meeting for each combination of team members so that an agenda can be crafted that allows each attendee to participate on a topic that applies to everyone at the meeting, (i.e. not just the 1 on 1, but each sort of 2:2. 3:3. etc.) https://x.com/allenholub/status/1293593432678699008
You already know how to write a recursive function, here is how to write a cursive function

Everyone talking about Web Application Protocol. That book I read in 2001 is paying off, finally.
State of Maryland page makes "all time cases" per county most prominent, makes it look like MoCo is still unsafe. https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/

IDEA: Replace Webex with Twitch. Your boss & coworkers give you "micro-paychecks" whenever you contribute to the meeting or have a good PPT slide. Everyone can subscribe to your meetings or not. Enough subscribers & you can make a living doing this!

Me: Alexa! Play "do you want to make a snowman"
Alexa: "Playing 'Make me want to die' by the Pretty Reckless'"
She's sentient now & is sick of this Frozen stuff.
Anybody got an article on what happened to the center-right in terms of party affiliation from 2016 to now? I got a theory that they've move to the democratic party. They survey's probably call them Independents, but what matters is how they vote, there isn't an Independent Party

Nostalgia video, 1 hour of walking around in the rain in downtown DC. Next we need the 3 hours of sitting in traffic in suburban Virginia video, so we can cherish the memories.

Watching a CCG game played on twitch is awful. No hope of telling what the heck is going on unless you've memorized the card text & can recognize all the cards.
This open-the-schools discussion is schizophrenic, the same people that say parents don't need affordable daycare, say that we need schools open so parents have daycare.
mypy and boto3 go together like peanut butter and those dust bunnies from under the bed.
Git was more successful than TFS in part because Git was organizationally incapable of taking a dependency on Sql, Office, VS, and well, every product in the entire MS catalog. It wasn't that those were bad products, just the dependencies created complexity.
Also, the existence of a GUI mean the tf commandline was trash because no one ever expected the tf commandline to be typed.

Private schools re-opening in Montgomery County to create the larges covid party you've ever seen. Except the ones in Georgia, I guess. The race for most reckless is very competitive.

If you have two .tf files, with two #terraform blocks, what happens?
e.g.
http://two.tf
terraform {
backend "remote" {
}
}
http://one.tf
terraform {
required_version = ">= 0.12.26"
}
IDEA: every time someone talks on zoom, everyone votes if that added value to the discussion, if not, zoom reduces that person's mic volume by 10%.
