So this is my new profile website. It started as a way to dynamically compile the front page README on Github.
It is now a custom CMS that switches from identity to project promotion to job hunting.
Data sources are my github repos, pypi projects, and resume fragments.

- Feed building work is split between me (building a blog roll) and the reader (importing my blog roll). Thats a 4 hour ask and a 30 minute ask
- The people who write are split among blogs, newsletters, traditional media and books- You can't actually read all this in one reader
- The best content arrives with 2 & 10 year gaps
- Paywalls, so many paywalls
- Spending 30 minutes futzing with HTML/CSS

Well I ran the numbers and my audience engagement on Mastodon has been flat. Likes/retweets per day or average per tweet are pretty much the same since 2022 when I switched over. That's about 3.5 years of data.
Caveats - I did exactly 2 rounds of following people, on boarding and recently when I did some mastodon api scripting.

Just like pypi, npm's identity model is aggressive anonymity.
**You will not trust packages because the package comes from a real world identity! That reason is forbidden!** Only crypto/signature/password chains that show the 2nd package was published by the same entity that controlled the account earlier. Except when repos and accounts change hands or when an account is controlled by 100s of people or a corporation, at which point entity is kind of nebulous.

Thinking about new "social media" servers, like meetup.com clones. It needs to have a really good "empty server" experience. Your empty mobilizon server needs to give initial users a really good reason to login for the 5+ years it takes before there is critical mass in the user base.
If I have to predict, mobilizon will become the go to place for organizing not-in-person events, e.g. majong or DnD over Zoom or finding a team for your multiplayer minecraft game.
Federating the Wash DC events server with the Timbuktu, Mali isn't going to create the synergy that federating the corresponding Mastodon servers would.

My current understanding of quantum:
Our knowledge about the location of quantum particles flows like heat (the cloud of where we think they could be). When we see a particle, we know it is in one place at 100% probability. The actual particle is always at one place or another, we just don't know where and can't measure it with our big clumsy macro hands/tools/instruments.
Since we're made of lots of quantum particles (so many!) and so are all our tools to measure, there is some limit to how well we can pin down the location of the smallest.
All the paradoxes, (double slit, bells theorem, entanglement), don't know what it means, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are also seeing weirdness about how our knowledge evolves and not how locations evolve.
