If you have 500 books & samples in your Kindle library, there is no way to find "21st Century C" because #Kindle can't search for single letter words.

Array declaration syntax is a mess across languages. fwiw, I wish complex types like list, array, etc used the same syntax as custom types.

#python optimizing, round n+1:
pypy is 5x faster than cpython for this file processing library
BUT
-lots of libraries don't work out-of-box with pypy- pylint, mypy, paramiko, etc-anything that deals with the ast or native code
-plays poorly w/pipenv, venv, pyenv & pycharm
This was pypy3.6 on windows. things might be all rainbows on linux, haven't checked yet.

"We’re going to be able to dramatically increase Amtrak and VRE service. We’ll be able to get hourly service between Richmond and D.C."
Last time I went to Richmond by train it took 12 hours to get back by train. I don't go often, so I assume that is the norm.

Neuroscience guys say the majority of the happiness we get comes from anticipating getting something good not in the getting something. What if we realize that & start just finding pleasure in the anticipation, will our brain ruin that & we only enjoy anticipating anticipating?

Calling #golang from #python is a no-go. It can be done but requires go->cgo->c/c++->cython->python and you still need to have excellent knowledge of c & c++ type systems.
And for all that effort, it is slower than a python-only solution.

If I want to implement a native variable width file processor which should I choose?
(say, a fast MARC parser to be exact, eventually to be called from python)
default logging libraries in all languages: brittle, config driven messes
the 10 trillion other logging libraries: works great but not in your project
They're bad solutions for the wrong problem, which is how to tell a good story, like writing a good novel with expensive pencils

Large organization authentication stops at IDing people by first name and last name. Because of human factors (people just don't give a flying f), if you have the same name as someone else in a large org, you are the same person and can do the same things as the other person.
#python Generators (the yield keyword) are slow in python because the underlying primitives of looping math, etc, are slow. Use generators instead as an API pattern to help developers fall into the pit of success.

#python I add one yield statement and now my python loops are like a frog turning it's stomach inside out -- all the nested loops have to switch to passing around iterators.
