Context managers are very useful in writing XML in python. You can use the `__exit__()` method to delete the file. Another useful companion is StringIO. Write to stringIO and the XML will stay off the hard drive too, followed by `gc.collect()` to really get rid of the XML.

Hold on, but what if you want your Java to be fast, you could rewrite it into COBOL. Then as soon as the rewite is done, modernize by translating into Java, then back to COBOL for performance, but don't stop there..
I think COBOL should be rewritten to go or rust. A rewrite into a slow language is going to mess with one of the reasons it is still cobol.

enemy functions will be declared inside of comments and you have to open() the source, parse out the comments and eval the function to call it.

So if this is what people really want, then I propose anti-sugar for all the functions you don't want your users to call and that you want to keep to yourself. Antisugar functions will be declared in cobol syntax to make sure no one can call them without a morning of typing.

@daks I only use ruff for linting. I used to run several linters- pylint's rules are a superset of flake8 so no point in that. Ruff doesn't catch as much as pylint because I haven't learned how to tell ruff to check more things. I also have 3 different profiles for pylint and I don't know how to do that with ruff.
I don't think too much about formatting. Let an autoformatter run then turn off the formatting-related linting rules.

@krusynth People that don't follow rules won't be scared off, but people in organizations that check licenses will be scared off. I'll post my PoC of an "unwelcome-uses" checker this evening.
@krusynth These licenses become untouchable because of license compatibility problems, except in cases where the clauses are unenforcable anyhow. Maybe something along the line of CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md (very focused on bad online behavior) or SECURITY.md (very focused on reporting bugs the right way), maybe ETHICS.md -- a lot of times people will follow the rules if they're posted.

Understanding US pol. There are 2 partisan views of how discrimination works:
- everyone in your group is a white male.
Why?
- US Left: accidental discrimination. You never invited anyone else & should be fixed
- US Right: no discrimination exists unless there is some "No girls allowed" sign on the door. Non-whites & girls are just probably worse. Inviting girls harms men.
I see Europeans saying, the US Left "wants" to discriminate by trying to do something about an org being all white males.
Is there the same politics in Anglophone Europe? Definitely in England.

If youtube existed during the Vietnam war it would have been 19 years of videos about the economic unsustainability of North Vietnam and their impending collapse. You don't even need state motivated propaganda to get people to believe that a foreign aggressor will collapse and go away on their own with no external forces.
