google cloud is down, so it is correct to say the sky is falling, that chicken was right.

IDEA: a sports channel for running on twitch, where all you do is watch players run as fast as you can around maps of WoW & the like. And witty commentary.
Vimeo is down too, I bet everyone switch over to vimeo and crashed it. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1135273137547939846

Hey, anyone need to rent a 1BR in Takoma Park, walking distance to Metro? I got one available 6/12 - $1472/mo

And folk who impose these sort of burdens (in small offices, corporations, gov't) think they are so clever and no one will https://x.com/sawyerh/status/1134503949069946881
TODO: Write an autoresponder that says "who asked you anyhow?" when anyone replies to your youtube comments. If the comments are generally bad, the comments on comments are worse.
git bash>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>putty
Git bash is poorly named, it should just be named, "SSH for Windows So You Don't Have to use Putty"
It is such good news, I sort feel like I should run out doors & tell the people on the streets.
Job - Remote/Baltimore Ruby on Rails work https://twitter.com/PaulOstazeski/status/1134462706663219200
You say "oh, that's stupid, just ask for a key"
I say, "oh, finally, I've been promoted to supervisor of the person that hands out keys! oh joy!" https://x.com/mistersql/status/1134455875756802049
prediction: in the future, there were be RPA (robotics process automation) tools that wrap every app that has a perfectly good API except your org won't give you an API key, e.g. scripting AWS console with selenium instead of an IAM key & python.
IDEA: Macarena activated towel dispenser. Saves paper, your hands will be mostly dry by the time the towel pops out. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1134124591771783168/photo/1
Lux Lyft sometimes means money pit.
Getting technology adoption (e.g. UI/UX design work) into federal agencies via micro purchasing (i.e. really short contracts), if I read this right. https://x.com/AdHocTeam/status/1131933225654398976
I said good things about running dual boot linux on Lenovo X1 Extreme. I revoke them all. It appears that you need either an OEM (not generally downloadable) distro or you have multiple problems booting directly to linux
If you use pop-os, things work, but pop-os refuses to install on the default small efi partition, so isn't bootable. resizing the efi appears to be dangerous or require reinstalling windows. ubuntu (downloadable iso) can't even bot from usb stick.
♡ 0 ↻ 0Centos is great until the machine sleeps & screen goes permanently black & doesn't come back on until a hard reboot. Sigh.

Dual boot experience for linux hasn't improved much since 1998. It is like any company that funds people who could fix this actively want dual booting to be an awful experience.
I've never seen that before. My win 10 machine thinks it is EST but 10:15. The real time is 6:16
IDEA: IkeaCraft the game. You wander an empty apartment building and swing your allen wrench to build furniture. Sales staff & millennial family mobs wander around.
Another map that traces out in the south an ancient coastline. (left good agricultural land which became concentrated with slave plantations) https://x.com/SteveCase/status/1131940934399254534
Counterpoint thread- AWS Lambdas have perf problems if you didn't read the documentation. https://x.com/rchrdbyd/status/1130106230670876673
So AWS lambdas have unexpected perf characteristics
- cold start pauses 3000ms
- routing delays 50ms (APIGateway etc)
- cpu scheduler 0-? ms
So lambda as a webpage might be too slow for modern single page JS apps. https://twitter.com/corsoa/status/1131902841021456384
1 join RH dev program to install rhel for free
2 prompted to enter license before installing anything by yum
3 Subscription-Manager broken & must be updated
4 can't update because of 2

Mechancial turk chat bots, sounds like one of my bad ideas but already implemented. https://x.com/ashk4n/status/1131623369688866816
IDEA: biometric identification, but instead of smashing your finger against your finger print reader, you smash your face on the keyboard and the computer recognizes you based on the keydown patterns.
What are we calling it
META: this new twitter UI is awful & I can't reliably revert to the old one. The m.twitter site (mobile) is now the same as the non-mobile one (ugly mess). Profile search broken, lousy use of screen space. Ugh. Tweetdeck is now better than this mess.
6 businesses that, before they started, we started by people who owned a house with a garage & had social access to venture capitalists (aka, the 1%), without which, those 6 businesses would have gone nowhere. They also had fridges. https://x.com/glennsheltons/status/1131409876364742656

Some DC area folk seem to act like WMATA competes against their personal traffic-free commute. WMATA competes against gridlock, unmoving traffic. Relative to that they're doing OK. Or this is just folk who enjoy contrived political tinged drama, since it is DC. https://x.com/kiskyface/status/1130832510756241408
KATA: script to convert an English document to all acronyms, except stop words. Alternately, take a dictionary of acronyms & convert all possible phrases to known acronyms.
Good video if you're doing any docker development- these were a lot of the exact same pain points I had getting started with docker https://x.com/sudo_bmitch/status/1130472196906848258
I ran 3.1 miles in 23 minutes- personal record 'cause I don't remember high school.
24th over all, 4th in my age group. If I can break 21m next year I can get 2nd place, or 1st of that crazy fast 17.5m guy doesn't show up.

I wanna know which presidential candidate supports annexing Canada & moving the capital to Whitehorse, Yukon. This heat sucks.
To be followed by ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ to work Monday 27th for anyone on the south end of the Blue & Yellow Line. https://twitter.com/gwhennigan/status/1129507877532708864
I'm living this scenario too.
Preprod + Prod = too few environments
dev + test+ uat + ..etc...+ staging + prod = too many
(each dev workstation sometimes counts an environment, depends on how wildly different they are from the servers) https://twitter.com/mattcampux/status/1129415362964086784
Rent with @Hertz and you roll the dice on if you will be arrested for false auto theft charges. I'm guessing Enterprise doesn't do this, because arresting random customers is a very specific sort of evil-stupid. https://x.com/EricSchillerDev/status/1129396452558557185
The ATO documentation was 200 pages of stuff written by a guy who never needed to examine the source code of the application. If an SSP can be written in isolation from the artifacts of the app, this is all security-irrelevant smoke & mirrors. Modern day pixie dust. https://x.com/apporima/status/1129021975496728576
What I didn't like about ATO is it was an elaborate way of raising your hand & promising the system was secure & then only validating the single sign on server, which was out of my apps control. Security feature wish lists, security flaw fix lists weren't relevant. https://x.com/apporima/status/1129021975496728576
