IDEA: Marvel movie where there are 600 A list celebs who each get to say the same line "Prepare for battle!" (that's like 10 minutes) and the next 80 minutes, everyone just does epic fight scenes. In each sequel, add a zero to celeb count.
I can't believe I made it 20 years without having to learn advanced MS Word & Powerpoint. Last time I knew advanced MS Word stuff (foot notes, table of contents, etc) was in college.

IDEA: (not original, but still) Instead of tattooed on eyeliner, a tattooed-on 5 o'clock shadow. Why take ten hours when you can get that shadow instantly https://x.com/mistersql/status/1120424798407024641/photo/1
To move to a new tech (cars) all the benefits need to be in terms of solving old problems (horse poop) that will be irrelevant once you get to the new tech. Which car does consumer reports recommend to keep horse shit off the front porch? https://x.com/arstechnica/status/1120297202436464641
PSA: Measles is back and folk who had their shots back in the 60's may need a booster/redo. It is safe to get a redo. Source is Forbes. Maryland is up to 4th case. Nothing in DC or VA...yet.

Can someone create a language with string templating as as 1st class citizen? Sort of like http://VB.NET's XML literals but instead of XML, strings. Sort of like every ASP, JSP like language but instead of template interspersed with code, code interspersed with template
META: is there anything that isn't a "retweet" anymore? All retweets are retweets, so are likes and all replies? I guess all that is left are deletions ("So and so just deleted "Hey check out my underwear selfie"")
We are Amtraking hard, man.
Also, I really wish passenger rail had dedicated rail lines. Our train was 1 hour late. But now we're in the dining car eating chocolate tarts so it is a wash.
META: I got this pop up and I don't see why, I think it is twitter corporate PR. Did Jack say something controversial again? https://x.com/mistersql/status/1119004912925511687/photo/1
Game developer on the market!
(And there are billions of $ in game development- heck, there is literal money in gaming- I'd trust ISK over BTC) https://x.com/bccasteel/status/1118959131879251976
Please download this report so that when the server falls over, a DOJ IT worker will finally be able to justify upgrading some hardware.*

Thread summarizing proposed DC to Baltimore Hyperloop- 35 miles, carries 1000 people per day. I guess new technology has to start somewhere, but this seems underwhelming as a quasi-public transit system (which won't allow you to drive your own Telsa in it, if I read correctly) https://x.com/srepetsk/status/1118706467157303296

Imagine that time to complete almost all tickets is 4 hours. But one of those tickets will have an unforeseen problem, increasing the time by -4 hours (instant solve) to a year. The outlier now dominates the schedule. (my summary of:

Good news- getting an BoA Amtrak credit card was a good idea - I used my point to take a sleeper car to Atlanta. For points, it was a good value.
Bad news- I got post train motion sickness (my wife too!) The kids didn't get motion sickness. So I'm a landlubber, but for trains.
No primes. No Triangular numbers. No numbers that appear in a dictionary or a number line. No Fibonacci. No perfect numbers. All of these numbers have already been leaked by mathematicians and lack sufficient entropy. No number in sequential order. No repeating digits. https://x.com/bpeebles/status/1118198991890653184
Fun game to play- Where is the cursor on these 3 monitors?
You are required to play it.
"Coffee-shop first" - This would be a good way to design any network - inside of the network should be as secure as on the outside. Remote work would get considered first & technologies that don't support remote work would be eliminated before they got in the corporate inventory https://twitter.com/seanstickle/status/1118172359645650944
The only thing that can defeat this laptop lock is thermite bomb or a $5 wood saw to cut through the particle board desk.
What is stronger password. Only one of these is a common policy.
I'm awful- when I saw the Cathedral news, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't the one Monet painted 30x. Monet painted a similar looking one in Roen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rouen_Cathedral

Someone in my family is trying to get the family set up for Video chat (Facebook Portal) - So I'm now up to 11 technologies, each of which have lousy coverage of my social network, from Whatsapp to http://keybase.io to google hangouts, etc, etc.

Which federal agency is the biggest crackpot magnet (i.e. potentially mentally ill outsiders who think the agency is up to something untoward, watching them, conspiring against them, etc) -- Short list, CIA, FBI, NSA... and USPTO?
Cool script. Exploits that users have been trained to enter credentials in the non-stop popups AS REQUIRED BY ORG RULES (expire sessions every 20 minutes! for 10 apps, that is a credentials request every 2 minutes! super secure!) https://x.com/defsecnsattack/status/1117408932195110912
IDEA: net nanny, but block all of the websites unrelated to doing your taxes.
Glass and plastic. Single stream recycling (contamination) & no thought to processing (China won't take it anymore) are at fault. That and manufacturers are allowed to generate infinite quantities of trash for free with no limitation, no taxes, etc. https://x.com/srepetsk/status/1117099833540653058
Diophantine equation in the kindergartner's homework: "there are 7 wheels. 1 tricycle, n wagons. How many wagons?" It would be a good kata to solve for x wheels, y tricycles, n wagons.
MS... bring back the "Fix Application Wizard"!
Step 1 - Debug. [Back] [Next]

so the jdk system was designed to make the python runtime system look good.
<returns to looking for 32 bit Jdk that Intellij likes>
No jdk found, I should install...
1) accidentally publishing secrets (public s3 buckets)
2) losing control of your account because of uni-factor authentication (user name password and text API keys, vs yubi key & AWS roles)
3) on-premise hardware with even worse security problems https://x.com/nmandriko/status/1116766008973373440
What are we using to find files on the harddrive nowadays on win10? I got 3 installations of git on my win10 box now because apps can't find git.exe anywhere.
