A meaningful, clear, short term task cranks up my productivity 10x more than "time management" "a good attitude" "to-do list management" "goof off blockers". Knowledge work especially suffers from BS tasks, vague tasks, unspecified due dates in the distant future, BS due dates https://x.com/rich_kilmer/status/1112702716839628800

On April Fools Eve, you have to say something true that makes people think you're lying.
Y'all speak for your self. I'm mole poblano. https://x.com/markhlyon/status/1111778588163039232
When you're talking to people in person, where is the 1.25x and 1.5x speed settings? I've discovered these on youtube and it works wonders for slow talkers.
Straw vote, should we repeal the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 (ITMRA)
[As I google it I see it had good & bad stuff, created CIOs in agencies, but also mandated waterfall. If repealed, I bet there is another law also mandating waterfall]
It is like a snow day without snow. Jolly red & green pattern. And rush hour hasn't really started yet. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1111357088159150080/photo/1

I almost got an achievement badge for sending a fax today, but the help desk couldn't run it either.
You are in a maze of twisty little sharepoint pages, all alike.
"Please contact your network administrator to resolve this malfunction." - what a long way to say go fk yourself. Seriously, there is nothing anyone can do with this message, it shows contempt for the user
Maybe "Error occurred. Recommended contact person not configured for app"
E-QIP: Please list 3 people who really don't know you that well right now
1) Twitter's ad algo
2) Youtube's video recommender
3) Most tech recruiters

Scrum plus definition, pre-mortem meeting. That is where we figure out who f'ked up and needs to be killed.
Do you trust these certificates? Well, have I ever met them? Have I ever seen these certificates speak the truth, even when it wasn't in their interest? Did these certificates ever tackle a mugger? I think not. These certificates are of unknown honor.
I'm:

Okay, fine, if you must you can open the javascript console
document.getElementById('desiredInput').checked = false;
IDEA: linux apt or yum utility that wraps installers and has long multiple step wizards that ask unnecessary questions and have random, multi-minute sleeps that block until you click ok... so you can re-create the .msi experience.
My taxes went from 13% to 11.5% of income. My income was up $9,000. After it all nets out, my taxes went down by $844. Weeee. My marginal propensity to consume and invest are soooo much higher now. Bankrupting the country will all be worth it, eh?
I am claiming each ant in my kitchen as a dependent. They didn't provide even half of their own support last year.
Hardest decision today: Is 4K worth it (compared to regular FHD) on a 15.6 inch laptop. It is a nasty combination of pros and cons. My final conclusion- 1080p laptop & if I ever get an external monitor, I'll get a 4K monitor.
In case you a tech professional & are shopping for CentoOS/RHEL/Ubuntu ready laptops that are comparable to Macbook but not as expensive: get a Lenovo X1 Extreme.
Sidenote: we are at an end of an era for high spec machines in laptops, I think in the future your high spec workloads are going to have to be in the cloud or a desktop machine because of thermal constraints on an ergonomically optimal laptop (5 lb, 15 inch)

My shopping efficiency is awful for hotels, airfare & laptops, meaning, it takes too much time per $ spent & too much time per $ (potentially) saved. The $ potentially saved probably is worse than minimum wage for travel shopping.
TIP: Ever get blocked by the "hey, no reading articles if you don't disable adblock"? Use these plugins: Mercury Reader on Chrome or "Reader" on Firefox - you get a readable article & no nag message.

KATA: write code to list all 4 digit numbers that look like suspicious pattern to a human, e.g. 0000, 1234, 1337, etc. Probably could reduce the search space by a quarter, reduce it again by a lot by removing valid dates, eg. 1231 https://x.com/malmckay/status/1108772889480695808

Rehabilitated this 2007 macbook- Linux Mint 19.1 worked. Had to add magic phrase to grub to fix boot slowness & now even the wifi works. Firefox installs.
Planning to upgrade this 2007 Mac osx to ubuntu & just come to peace with the fact that I will be tethered to a ethernet cable. (turns out these macs have broadcom wifi, which only has closed source proprietary drivers, so must be manually installed)
Or you can extensively document it in a single tweet, say "here is the metadata endpoint (swagger/whatever), it uses HTTP. The end"... oh it is an ad hoc API? Well, that's what we hire technical writers for. (Wait, we didn't hire a technical writer?) https://x.com/ExpertBeginner1/status/1108010988886876160
Trying to use 10 y/o mac with OSx
- All 3 major browsers fail to do SSL on most sites
- All 3 refuse to install latest
Trying to run linux
- broadcom wifi drivers not avail by default
- requires GPT , not MBR, so most ISOs fail to boot
- old trusties like DSL linux are gone
