Good thread. My whole career has been cleaning up legacy code bases, usually under management radar, sometimes it pays off in reliability, rarely it pays off in ability to add new features 'cause it takes so long. META: I used to use blocktogether- I turned it off because it uses crowd sourced blocklists & some of the contributors imho, were probably malicious, but twice in two days I've run across folk I don't remember blocking who were blocked & as it turns out, it was a good call.
& by malicious, I mean, someone was adding people to the list for being famous Democrats & the like.
♡ 0 ↻ 0(it = the block list happened to be right, they were blocking toxic jerks.)
I still wish there was a blocklist tool, just not crowdsourced to random people including the same toxic jerks that the blocklist is supposed to ID.♡ 0 ↻ 0

Looking for an object initializer pattern in Python like C# that doesn't permit positional args. eg instead of C(True,False), I want C(P(unzip=True,keep_zip=False))
But namedtuples let you do C(P(True,False)) which is no better than C(True,False)

If Trump won on the wall, he would completely change the rules of the game and would control 100% of the budget. He was asking for the entire budget of the us gov & creating an existential threat to the House of Reps & Senate. But he didn't see to realize that. https://x.com/eriklincoln/status/1089220252376936448

What do you spend out of pocket on prof dev (Including pers paid pluralsight, udemy, conferences, in person training, hosting accounts, AWS bills)
It varies a lot for me, but $500 to $1000 is typical, half of that being hosting fees for VMs & the like.

netflix watch list is x% junk I probably will watch soon and 1-x% stuff I should watch but not feeling it yet. Youtube's recommend workflow encourages you to focus entirely on the junk, which is too bad because for certain skills, youtube is 1000x better than text.
Seems like this idea could be applied to charting the value of variables of a higher level program as well. Could be boring for an immutable programming language. https://x.com/FogleBird/status/1087557351211704320

- not enough cold days per year
- DCs worst isn't all that cold
- DC forgot to have winter most of last winter
So I'll make do with layers.
