If you enjoyed Fire & Fury, Higher Loyalty, looks like 3rd volume in series coming out soon Bob Woodwards book: Fear.
The president ordered the start of two wars, neither of which happened because the military refused.

Craigslist system for flagging illegal activity is so bad we might as well consider them as partners in crime.Populists blame the poor, the recent immigrants, minorities-the problem is techies in charge of websites who just don't give a flying f'k about the community they live in
IDEA: Air B&B, but for letting people camp in your car in your driveway. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1036664516073988096
Camping in cars (laying down seats & sleeping in back) is a huge genre on YouTube. But you can see even the SUV designers spent about zero attention.
Throw in a penny and say "I wish I had a penny." https://x.com/mistersql/status/1036284796044038145/photo/1
Tech trickles down. I'm glad car makers aren't all thinking that EVs are about poor people saving $10 at the gas station. I'd drive my family around in a 4 seater EV Ford Mustang (If I can get the condo to install a plug) https://x.com/toddmoore/status/1036211082220716037
Best way to spend your weekend
Carmax makes $2000 more per car than traditional high pressure dealers.
New & used car dealers get $2000 of joy out of making you suffer as you buy a car. If they didn't, they'd just sell cars like Carmax and take the extra $2000.
IDEA: People would like liinting more if the IDE played a sound loop of a cheering crowd that roars louder as you got closer and closer to zero lines of lint (and compile errors)
Day trips from Washington DC? The only thing that awaits us a 2 hour drive from the city (if you leave in the morning) is a swift death in the mid-day sun.
SiriusXM - local DC tech company or not? (XM Radio *was*)
And I have to do this expense report from home because Xerox PullPrint doesn't work for any mac in the office. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1035499069253320704
Maconomy is the original RPG UX
Need to pick from button, menu, tab, check-box, pop-up to create a expense report- roll d20. Need to save... same
Checkbox= add element to list
Tab= new thing
Tab-the key= save progress so far
It is like the read the UX guide & did the opposite
A mere 307 for this chap. https://twitter.com/drhappyknuckles/status/1035064803146911744
Also, tweets will be labeled tweets and ads will be labeled ads, especially those already labeled ads. Take that nazis! https://x.com/washingtonpost/status/1035219620473577472
Republicans are going to hate python now

What's happening?
[ http://build.py - Starting task "mypy" ]
mypy finished running, now processing error file
Too many lines of mypy : 2299
So, my status for the rest of my life is adding type hints to this python code base.
I sort of want XMSirius radio again, but I don't like that they are giving money to Fox News, an org I'd support no more than I'd support the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda.
IDEA: A 5000 Horsepower car to be sold exclusively to silicon valley tech-bros. It 3 years, it would solve the tech-bro problem for a generation. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1035155563712315392
Infinity FX35 - 303 horsepower. When shopping for my car, I researched big engines- their #1 benefit of 'em is dramatically higher risk of losing control of your vehicle even going from 0 to 10. Most common accident for big engine cars: single car wrecks from loss of control. https://x.com/WHands80/status/1034960447336796161

IDEA: email documents you need to print to some company with working printers. They print it out and send it back by USPS.
This exploits the comparative reliability of USPS relative to printers in my office. Shaves days of the time it takes to print anything around here.
Bought a Chevy, my review
Chevy engineers A+

articles written by car enthusiasts F-

The technology on these machines is incredible. It is a quantum leap, yet they are still marketing on engine size as if the other features were important as cup holders.
Both sales and marketing are failing *hard* to let people know how to use the new tech or that it exists.♡ 1 ↻ 0I am so sick of car reviews by people who want to compare a daily driver family car to a large engine race track car.
Pretty much only youtube & DCs own US News & World report's articles helped.
The new info burden on car buyers is huge! We are all under-informed buyers.♡ 1 ↻ 0Chevy is saving the world, saving America with Hybrids made with union labor. I'd rather a car free world, but until then, Hybrids & EVs are what we need.
Because Toyota know people like me want to save the world, Toyota is getting all the sales, eg Prius.♡ 0 ↻ 0Why not Chevy? The Malibu Hybrid and [V|B]olt mostly look like every other car. New tech sells 'cause folk gotta keep up with the Jones, which means these cars should be proud Hybrids & EVs, not sullen, sulky, blend ins.

If cars depreciate 20% 1 second after purchase, why isn't there a mile long line of arbitrageurs outside of dealerships eager to buy those cars? Maybe that bit of conventional wisdom is wrong. Car sold in year 1 are: distressed sales, lemons, or could be & are priced thus.
IDEA: Tweet unroll at someone (not at a tweet or tweet storm, just someone) and it generates a long rambling document that sounds like them.
It would be a good complement to https://threadreaderapp.com/
Chevy could out elon-musk Elon Musk if they sold a Chevy Malibu with train wheels so I could drive thru the metro rail tunnels to work. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1033494010084646912/photo/1
Write code from the heart, people can sense phoniness.
raise TypeError("The config file doesn't even exist! You didn't read the docs I wrote for you! Ok, just type nano config.ini, Ctrl+O, Ctrl+X to save & exit") https://x.com/NotTimBook/status/1033467106069757952
META-IDEA: prophylactically add a "this is my Soundcloud" reply to all your own tweets just in case.
Maryland math- If you have the option to buy your leased car for $10K & option cost is $500, but the tax is 6%, so it would have to be worth $1.1K to make a profit, a 10% mistake by the lease company. Because of transaction costs, the residual would have to be really wrong.
This is assuming you like, sold it to CarMax immediately. And CarMax takes a $1K to $2K off what you'd get selling it yourself. So while it is theoretically possible to have equity in a leased car, I'm thinking it is fairly unlikely.

If Cadillac made Super Cruise standard & flooded youtube & media channels with it, they’d get the positive mind share that currently google & uber are getting for those self driving cars.
You know they are a tourist if they stand on the escalator on the left. You know they are a moron if the stand on the stairs on the right.
I think folk are just going to be stuck with a lot of gold. https://x.com/mistersql/status/1032694403901673472/photo/1
[DEBUG] SIGWINCH ignored. Not daemonized
More likely, just not hungry enough to notice that sigwinch.
mastodon has recreated the lousy user bio of twitter, so it is impossible to tell who is who, what they do, where they are or how I might be related or interested in anyone here.
Weirdest genre of car YouTube: How to live in a Prius or Yaris ‘cause you’re homeless or camping.
Well, Politico says that at least the country will move on funding Amtrak rail maintenance after a catastrophe hits... whoa that is a tunnel I've travelled through many times.
