Oh, that's too big of an office for me.
What it said: "This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs."
Also not sure I can create 24,999 jobs, that's a lot of interviews.

Tech job market, my 1st & 2nd hand impressions.
**jr **- blitzed. Despair or wait a few years
**mid/sr IC **(5 years exp). Fine, but worst case 4-8 month hire cycles. Salaries flat.
**5+ years exp**. Fine but recruiters aren't calling. Maybe because they're all buried in a flood of applications. Salaries flat.
**tech adjacent **(QA, BA, SM, PM, recruiter). Bad but maybe not as bad as jr dev market.

@chrisod Project reached an inflection point. Did not get laid off. Lasted five years, it was enough time to ship to PROD and do many incremental releases, so it is time to declare victory and move on to new things.
I am on the job market. I've 20+ years as an IC, 8 years as a tech lead in #govtech
I'm best at python, AWS, backend work, but I've done it all & supervised people who do it better than me. Open to both lead and IC roles. Can still do Microsoft-stack work (dotnet, etc). Heck, I'll learn z/OS if will help the mission.

- Fully remote is default for tech work
- *International* job market, limited only by time zone and tax laws.
- Interest rates >0%, entry level market is a wreck (for applications, wonderful for orgs hiring)
- Microsoft dotnet is now fully niche? Or just feels that way when you're not actively in a MS shop.

Summing ordinal complexity scores (story points) to get velocity is a random number generator.
Nothing you didn't already know, I'm just doing fanservice for the likes.
Using an ordinal metric for actual times increases the error bars so fast that the sum is all error.
(i.e. if story points are still ordinal but mapped to hours, then when you do math with them you have to carry the error range and it gets larger for each operation, excluding the magic of LOLN and finding moments of a random sample)

TIL: Being a tech lead erode your skills from the standpoint of what your résumé
- You rely on specialists on the team to do what they specialize in, so you don't skill up in that area
- You are the IC of last resort so you get good at all the stuff not covered by full time specialists (e.g. dockerfile, crafting a nginx config, gitlab-ci.yml scripts, and 100+ things that need done but don't consume your every working day)
- & the obvious: some % of your time is supervisor, not writing code
