This is funny because a bot has a switch, so any bot asserting political power could be defeated by turning it off. A bot with arms and legs and a body, or many bodies would be at no disadvantage. Also, at the end of the day, political authority requires holding an maintaining a monopoly on violence, which requires a body to enforce.

Once you start doing imports inside init, you get import cycles, on import events happening in surprising order, or happening twice.
IDEA: python has atexit() but nothing onstartup(). Dotnet has PreApplicationStartMethod() and other events early in the process/app/thread's life cycle.
Maybe if I wrote an app that hosted a single process, like a gunicorn for CLI commands. And then it could have middleware and events to hook into.
I just checked... adding some code to run first by letting it run at import doesn't mean it will predictably run 1st. If you add interesting code to init and then that code import anything else, those import run 1st.

Someone force a bot to read all the text on the internet and now it thinks error handling in python is:
- convert it to a behavior that isn't an exception, e.g. a print statement (Chatty `pass`)
- rarely:log it and reraise it
- rarely:log it and replace with a different `Exception`
I can tell because that is how it writes methods and tests for methods.
How else could it be?
- Exceptions as control-of-flow, maybe like this, with a distinction between panic & recoverable
