"In Scrum, we believe that idle work is far more wasteful and economically damaging than idle workers." Quote from Essential Scrum
This would be an excellent idea to incorporate into Scrum, because contrary to the quote, orgs don't necessarily see any downtime. 2 or 3 week sprints, year round.
♡ 1 ↻ 0Okay, thinking about this more... what I mean is there should be more activities other than planning and executing. Training, experiments, ...going idle because there is some team-wide blockage...etc.
Because in remote work, if you aren't working in some sense of the word that is just an extra vacation day or weekend day.
♡ 1 ↻ 0**Slack **by Tom DeMarco
“What I call bankruptcy of inventiveness is often the result of a failure to set aside the resources necessary to let invention happen. The principal resource needed for invention is slack. When companies can’t invent, it’s usually because their people are too damn busy.”♡ 2 ↻ 0The opposite of slack is a problem, too. I like the google ratio: 1:4

Watching about cramps & learning that there is very little research about the topic- no business model & no public policy problem to solve. Seems like there should be some way to do these studies that otherwise would require economic justification. Maybe citizen science? (on the other hand, that's how we got pickle juice for cramps & duct tape for warts... both possibly dodgy cures)
@ebooksyearn For the social network impaired like myself, it seems the peripheral features are more valuable than the core newsfeed (groups, the used goods, the local news, whatsapp/instagram)
Updating my Facebook feed, chores so far:
- removing restaurants & venues that I don't live near anymore
- adding aspirational social groups like Reston Runners
- Adding tiny number of family members I'd missed
- My growth in my social graph is all internet people (works better here) or work (works better on linked in)
How do you use facebook more effectively?
"I am become" am become templater of jokes. #oppenheimer
Reading up on sleeping in rooms that are 100 degrees plus since of the 4 guest/hotel rooms I walked into in California, 2 of them were over 100+ on walk in. Yeah, they cool down once you open the window & turn on the woefully underrated A/C, but that was ~2AM.
(W/o acclimation?) sleep is disturbed at over 72.
At 96+ your sleeping with a environmental fever.
At 106 you got a medical emergency
Anyhow, f*k that s*t I don't care if CA is the home of Silicon Valley and Hollywood, I'm staying away.
#Markdown is going to make me change how I cuss in tweets. d`*`mn it.
♡ 1 ↻ 0LA Times says that there is no legal upper limit on how hot the rooms can get - https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2022-05-18/extreme-heat-standards
♡ 1 ↻ 0California Energy Commission (who doesn't want the electric grid to fall over & doesn't care if you sleep or not) says rooms should be 78 degrees when you're there and 85 when you are not.
Anyhow, that was the only number I could get on "well, as a society, what did Californians decide is customary & acceptable"
https://nexgenairandplumbing.com/how-cool-should-my-house-be-if-its-over-100-outside/
♡ 1 ↻ 0Another factoid was that after the sun goes down, CA buildings stay 15-20 degrees hotter than the surroundings for hours even with air conditioners on, so it would be noticeably smarter to sleep outside.

#smbc knew 3 years in advance.
California was how I imagine Saudi Arabia's interior to be. Hot & unpleasant. I will never go there again for vacation anymore than I'd go to Death Valley, [insert list of hottest places on earth]*, certainly not in the summer. I just don't remember it being like this 40 odd years ago.
And data says I'm right- https://weatherspark.com/h/y/145341/2020/Historical-Weather-during-2020-at-Los-Angeles-International-Airport-California-United-States

Game to play in California: how many Teslas in a row can you spot, our high score was 3
@shepgo It called your accusation cat $#!+ Good to see the old Sydney is still in there
Okay, that's enough California, the scifi climate was fun for a while- the heat where you can't sleep but now my skin hurts. If I'm going to help wreck the climate, next time I'll go to Iceland when the sun doesn't rise, at least it doesn't hurt.
Sea lions? More like smell lions.
"Why wouldn't you want to approach a sea lion? Do you have something against sea lions? Please provide some evidence to support your claims. Us sea lions have been nothing but polite, so some substantiation of you claims is the least you could do"

Went for a walk in the desert in California and homeless coyotes poop all over the road. Even the wild animal here can't afford the real estate.
In California before they turn the heat on
I thought Utah's clocks were messed up, California's are worse, most of them are 3 hours slow.
Prices so high in California...one dollar for a drip of coffee. Makes me feel like I'm visiting Scandinavia
What is your ETA?

- Where do you think we're headed?
- I was going to get some brunch at Sheerwater at Hotel Del Coronado San Diego.
- No I mean big picture, what is the culminating result of consciousness?Where does this path end?
- I still feel like it has something to do with the chilaquiles at Sheerwater.
I'm so sunburn prone I get burned by the suns neutrinos

Hello San Diego. That's Japanese for Mr Diego.
Getting ready to fly. I bet 20% of people put all their devices into airplane mode.
I think we can get rid of the rule about phones on planes.

For maximum security, all login screens should be black text on black backgrounds. There should be no feed back on if your login was successful or not. Someone standing behind you might learn where the user name and password fields are and how long your password is or what your username is. For maximum security, all authentication servers will reject all authentication requests because, it's username-password and all the hostile UX in the world won't improve it.
A few more degrees and we'll be like Arizona where the hospitals keep getting people with severe burns from touching asphalt, concrete etc with their skin
