Last night I wrote code to import my Mastodon bookmarks & github stars as TODO items in my #obsidian vault. I got ideas for importing even more implicit TODO lists. This automated aggregation brings me joy to see, but now that my TODO list has exploded like the universe a millisecond after the big bang...it's is overwhelming. Oops.
I'm reviewing my old TODO lists from 11 years(!) ago. I thought I'd write an application settings /config library. I think this is mainly solved by modern "almost" serialization formats, like .ini, .toml, .yaml, .json. Also Dockerfile as a format really messes with the whole concept of a "thing editable separately from the rest of the app"- If you are going to have rebuild anyhow, maybe just edit costants in a .py file.
#chatgpt - It loves to generate markdown. When coding, sometimes people want json back instead. I got an idea! Use

@coreysnipes Custom fits at a running store worked well for my kids & wife, Potomac Running is good but there are other good ones. You can't go wrong with Hokas. Minimalist shoes, imho, are bunk, but even if I give them the benefit of the doubt, switching to minimalist is a long slow processes of changing your style of running & you'll be injury prone during the change over. The current fashion is to work within your natural style.

@coreysnipes What worked for me was strength training (lots of squats and lunges) & "maximalist" shoes, i.e. the ones with lots of padding. The other trick that works for me is "long slow runs", the general idea is that sometimes your heart & lungs can support faster running than what your legs are ready to support, so you run what feels slow to give your ligaments/tendons, etc a chance to strengthen.
@jemal@jemal.contact I got multiple accounts and my accounts on anything smaller than mastodon.social have similar problems, most notably with tag coverage...I think a server only shows posts with a tag is someone has subscribed to a tweet with a tag
I'm trying out `gpt-engineer` today & it is less of an application generator and more of an alternate to `cookiecutter`, i.e. a project shell generator, except it is any domain & sometimes starts to write some code, especially if the app you ask for is *small*. If you ask for a big app, it writes a lot of methods with `pass`

@akhilrao Knight's Tale's main characters are poor, so realistic I guess. Game of Thrones has more infrastructure than a society that has only humans and animals as an energy source could make. (Oh, that is a big element in the history of commerce- w/o fossil fuels, commerce is limited by the productivity of humans & animals & the humans were doing most of the work of physically moving things around- so transit, earth works, etc-- all done almost entirely with human power, no diesel engines)
@akhilrao the right ratio comes from how many calories each farmer can grow. It used to be that each farmer barely grew more than 1 persons worth of calories. So lots of farmers and a small number of military and aristocracy

@AlSweigart You mean how to install packages? pipenv. How to install packages pipenv can't? pip/pip3. How to invoke pip/pip3? From the cli, although sometimes I let Pycharm do it. How does Pycharm and pipenv do it? Pipenv I think used to vendorize it or call the unstable APIs inside of pip, and there is that pip-api package which was to make a stable facade so you could invoke it inside of python. The move to using pyproject.toml thought may change my habits
