No "no search on mastodon" is a feature? And hashtags are "hey everyone, interact with me, even if your a bad actor!" and no hashtag means "Hey, I want to talk about the word vegan without random bros saying, 'mmm, bacon' in the comments"
This is only going to last until some 3rd party indexes all the content on mastodon.
