Build servers were never meant to deal with the size of node_modules for hello world. Time to download 1GB from npm is about as slow as moving 1GB around a build server. If the cache has to move into and out of the build server, then at node_module scale, it stops speeding things up. Also, if the cache isn't local or stable, then even pnpm won't speed things up because pnpm's speed relies on the initial cache existing. Maybe if node_modules it was baked into the base docker image...
