@KristianHarstad Like many people on this website I'm a techie & upper-middle class. I have no particular intuition on cost of living outside that range. People do figure out how to survive at all income levels (except the homeless when they literally die of exposure), so this comes down to a political question of what the lower bounds are and what the distribution curve should be for the rest.
