Direct democracy and situations where people think they're in a direct democracy mean difficult questions/decisions can no longer be resolved because everything turns into escalating rage.
SO being a for profit business & a unpaid community of volunteers, HOAs, increasingly actual governments.
This sort of dynamic is as much a threat to democracy as people who never wanted democracy in the first place.
