@jik Edits don't distribute very fast. I made an arithmetic error, fixed it in 5 minutes and then kept getting "well actually" 8 hours later.
I think there is a fuzzy line between "mistake", i.e. the author is likely to immediately agree to the objection and and "I meant what I said" where the poster is not going to immediately agree. (and social media just isn't an engine for persuasion)
