If #AWS costs a lot for moving data into and out of AWS, seems like every single thing we do with AWS should compress data, i.e. only write zip files to s3, turn on gzip compression on the webservers. On the other hand, most of the money goes to RDS, so maybe it wouldn't matter. Still the cost of exporting all of a company's data out of AWS is mind boggling.
