I'm so cynical, eh.
"But training is a treat for developers who've already succeeded. Training is paid for essentially from the bonus and wage pool, so any training is a favor to the employee. If the firm really needs the skills provided by $5000 of whatever, they'd hire someone that costs $40,000 more than you per year to get those skills."
