Salaries of lawyers and other highly educated workers used to be really low. Only after technical breakthroughs did knowledge work become productive enough to be worth paying people to do it. No matter what the magical shit (MS) is, be it Excel, Unit Tests, or type annotations for dynamic languages, it makes knowledge workers more productive and worth paying them more.
