TIL, the convention of adding AUTHORS, LICENSE, CHANGELOG, etc to a project started with Gnu: https://www.gnu.org/prep/standards/standards.html#Documentation

They could have made a package format, but didn't so now there is a constellation of generators/parsers for AUTHORS, CHANGELOG, etc all different.
