And codes of conduct--these take their patterns from law, which are backwards looking. Bad behavior happens, it is IDs and someone gets kicked out of a group. Sort of wish it was more pro-active, e.g. this is good behavior.
So a code of conduct should be paired with a "how to contribute" to establish how to build & how to PR/etc
And a healthy dose of realpolitik. The sort of people that need to be told "don't be a jerk, or else" aren't going to stop being a jerk because they read the rule on jerks♡ 1 ↻ 0The *real* audience of a code of conduct is the moderator, the person who needs to decide when to sanction bad behavior. In a code repo, that moderator is going to be 1 person, who likely has better dev skills than moderator skills.
