Multiperson chang on signal is fine for chatting with the 2 techies I know on signal. The point was that signal isn't a substitute for whatsapp because non of my far flung family use signal. As for multiperson chat, the techies are using mostly slack.

The product is the people on the other end of the line and if the tool was able to attract them. Signal's selling point is "here is a feature you don't understand unless you are a techie (waves hands "privacy" woooo)"

Signal self asserts privacy the same way all other messaging platforms do. In an age of nonstop lying, no nontechie has any particular reason to believe an unverifiable feature. Folk should just assume it all goes straight to the cops.
