Does anyone work at National Archives and still have access to that "official guidance on naming columns in dbs" that suggested mechanistically removing vowels & consonants in a way that yielded nearly encrypted variable names (but shorter!)
If documents like that are not made public, we will forget what a bad idea it was and someone will repeat it.
