I think this problem is economically insoluable. I'd like to see how someone performs over a sprint's worth of work. That is 100% maximal fair assessment & costs a paycheck & 1/2. Doing a realistic fake problem for 8 hours, 4 hours, same thing, different scale. Also, you aren't being hired to do a task that can be done in 4 to 8 hours, you're being hired to do project work that takes weeks to months, even if you're doing scrum.
