Pluralsight disabled my account because I clicked skip too many times. (at least that is what their email said) They referred me to their ToS that doesn't specifically say anything about skips. If a ToS is to be a living document, it needs to mention the behavior you this is bad
And in this case, they should have just rate limited me. If they don't like me skipping ahead or switching back and forth between two videos, they can rate limit streams and skips. If you can detect & disable my acct, you can just enforce your own rules.
♡ 1 ↻ 0Anyhow, I really don't understand the utility of this sort of rule because I pay for my Pluralsight sub out of pocket and I do have a Udemy sub free from my employer. I think Pluralsight is telling me what they think about my business with them.
♡ 1 ↻ 0And twitter is covered with "pluralsight 403", so a lot of people run into this and have no clue why- https://x.com/search?q=pluralsight%20403&src=typed_query
♡ 0 ↻ 0The UX is not "hey man, can you cut our servers some slack and slow down", but HTTP 403 (followed up by an email where they want you to acknowledge some sort of ToS violation)
♡ 0 ↻ 0So I'm unbanned from Pluralsight and they "as a courtesy" will only let me trip their automatic 'bad behavior' detectors before they cancel my account. Help staff replied with only initials, I guess they know that this creates an adversarial relationship between help & customers.
