None of the staff had a day of moving experience. The foreman kept ordering them around like they were old hands. Disassemble/reassemble furniture? The people have never worked with IKEA furniture in their life.

Protect the walls? Nope, bang, smash all the way up and down the stairs. Protect the furniture? Nope, bang, smash. More breaks and scratches than any move I've ever done.

Well, did I save money? Nope, I will need to hire a cleaner/handy man/skilled carpenter to try to fix the mess. There is a huge dent in the drywall in the rental I was leaving and three scratches, new splinters on the railings.

How many pieces of furniture got ruined? About 3. Have these guys ever seen a house where you need to disassemble the rails to get a queen mattress up the stairs? Nope, I figured it out only after they left.

To top it off, I was so sick when the move was happening I delegated most of the work-- still the staff didn't listen to the foreman, so why would they have listened to me.

In a fully de-skilled/amateur-hour move:
- make them wrap everything in plastic. It cuts down on the amateur hour damage
- put down paper runners, get rid of booties
- disassemble your own furniture, forbid them to attempt to disassemble/reassemble anything

We still tipped them, and I will leave a negative review. I was mugged by a mover who didn't want to face up to the fact that he had to hire amateurs who won't listen to basic directions.
