- college degree in anything
- get certificate
- go to a boot camp

Do something to demonstrate you can write code
- post all your interview coding puzzle results
- write a small meaningful application
- do a few tutorials, the sort where you create a working app
Post them all to GitHub, clean up the code and be able to talk about it.

Everyone complains that coding interviews are gatekeeping, but really, the real gatekeeping is getting an entry-level job for quirky reasons, like family connections. A coding interview gives you a chance to get hired on aptitude.

Does it measure the wrong thing? Maybe, but at least it isn't measuring "was your family rich enough to support you while you did an unpaid internship" or whatever it is that gets people a foot in the door nowadays.

Imperfect signals are all we got. A fictional resume is the most imperfect signal of all.
