So I made ghost pepper salsa in the blender. We washed the blender and next day made fruit smoothie. No visible residue, the smoothie was a spicy as a restaurant curry. Next day, same story, still spicy. 3rd washing & 3rd smoothie, no longer spicy.

So the ghost in ghost pepper means you can still taste the heat even if it isn't visible or otherwise detectible.
