Specification thinking (popular with a stereotypical engineers) is really magical: One can succeed by fulfilling the infallible specifications of an omniscient customer. That inside of this is near pure rationality (eg writing code), it is surprising it is wrapped in superstition
Real customers are stupid and don't know what they want. So success can't be fulfilling a specification that someone delivered to your desk unless you believe fairies wrote it.
