twitter- search allows "reply guys" to own the libs by searching for a liberal key word and saying something nasty to everyone who says that word
mastodon- if a tweet is not tagged, w/o a 3rd party search engine, the tweet is not findable by hostile or friendly parties.

tag curation
- as writer -- if you post good content to a tag, it will slowly gain more followers.

- as a reader -- you will need filters to filter by word and mute spammers. Neither twitter nor mastodon have perfect tools here.

- as writer -- Post to a high level topic e.g. #python and a specific topic #pythonpackaging, everyone can think of the former, but the specific one has too many variations that people can't guess

- #I #am #a #skeptic #that #instagram #style #tags #provide #any #value. Like what is anyone supposed to do with this. #any is not a topic. It doesn't create an hierarchy of ideas.
