And the political scientists weigh in
I'm evaluating job offers and things that could be offers soon. Only thing worse than being unemployed is having to decide which job to take. Why? At least in #usgovtech
- typical don't meet your team or supervisor until after hire
- like parachuting into unknown enemy territory
- you remember every time you were burned by a bad career choice
- other leads that sound good may or may not be in the pipeline
- you have to be mean and say no to whoever made the first offer
So if a company can't find a cleared techie, they take a non-technical person and hope for the best.
Federal ...hiring freeze...-
"Contracting outside the Federal Government to circumvent the intent of this memorandum is prohibited."
Contracting companies aren't purely staffing companies, they do solution delivery & contracts are often in place long before things like this come up. Not sure what this means for contractors.

There was similar language in the 2017 Executive Order - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_United_States_federal_hiring_freeze
Fed gov't hiring levels have been at ~2 million for 50 years. Contracting head count exploded since then to fill the gap.
