Trump wants to cut the military budget by 30% over 4 years. That would be 600,000 people on the job market.

Ezra Klein gives the most inspirational and positive take on #uspol since the mess started
- They're in a weak position politically
- They are not doing a "coup" in any fashion that could be expected to work (too much, too fast, too sloppy)
- They will likely be thwarted in reaching all their goals
Elon's Government Efficiency initiative
It has been done 6 times before, Al Gore being the most recent. Unless we count Bannon who wanted to shut down all the agencies. And wow, look at how many he shut down. Negative one if you count Space Force

Theory: New coalitions
New Right
- Billionaires, Christian Right & Business who don't care who is in their coalition
- People who don't own a house/can't afford rent. Apoliticial because they're trying to make this months rent, no time read a 250 page book about policy.
New Left
- old school educated republicans
-the educated liberals with good paying jobs
People who own a house and can afford rent, but as a group, don't want to do anything about housing....
The people with houses don't want to fix the housing problem because then the $2million or $500,000 house you just bought on a 30 year mortgage would be $200,000 and you'd have millions of people with a deeply negative net worth.
Even if the price of eggs were "fixed", housing decimates your disposable income.
Us people with houses told the people without houses, "Fuck You! We Got our house!"
And we're really surprised when they voted "Burn it all down, fuck you all!"
Anyhow, build houses, gentrify the neighborhoods, build anything! Make some radical laws that says you can't be evicted from your house if your mortgage is upside down, so people don't have an incentive to create artificial scarcity by never letting any houses be built. Guarantee people proper pensions so their house isn't the pension.
2016 - Let's stress test our institutions' checks and balances against malgovernance
2020 - Phew, well, we're still alive, most of us. Mostly the bad guys were not competent to out-wit the establishment & checks and balances.
2024 - You, know, we should really stress test institutions, can't be too sure about these things

Some good news...Biden thinking about making Supreme Court changes. If it is going act like a bunch of partisans from the House of Representatives, maybe it should play by the same rules.
What could change my mind? Maybe a if I had a stroke or a Briarosaccus barnacle infected my brain.
Prove I'm a citizen to vote you say?
"The data show that people who self-identify as politically liberal are more likely to hold a valid passport than those who call themselves conservative..."
Now that the Republican base is the lesser educated, requiring filling in forms and having paper work on hand isn't necessarily going to tilt the vote the way they think.
Same thing with preventing old people from mailing in votes.
What's gonna happen with the US budget at the end of the month?
