Letter to Congressman Jim Moran

I am writing to urge you to support “Net Neutrality”, by supporting legislation such as the Internet Non-Discrimination Act of 2006 (S 2360), and oppose bills like the COPE Act (HR 5252).

As one of many programmers working in the high tech industry in Arlington, I am alarmed at the possibility that the telecommunication companies that make up the internet will begin charging discriminatory rates to internet content providers.

Letting phone and cable companies turn the information highway into an overprice toll road is a step back to the days before the internet–when networking was a pricy, impractical toy. My job and those of my collegues depend on an internet where the bits flow freely, and any bill that threatens net neutrality also threatens that flow.
