If pip added every feature that pipenv and poetry has, I think it would take about 10 years for pip to regain market share.
If easy_install tomorrow got all the features of pip, poetry, pipenv, you'd switch back to easy_install, right?

The contributors to pip are all good noble people and pip is better than what went before it but it doesn't really get exempt from how products gain and lose mindshare.
