If you see some clever objection to something, think, what are the implications of that being a universal law. If you do nothing with the implications, maybe you're not engaging in moral reasoning, but some sort of feel-good project of getting angry at some people, but exempting yourself & your actions from any similar scrutiny. Usually this gets called arrogance, but I see it as aggressive status-quo maintenance. Engaging in our clever objection would mean us having to change our behavior.
