I realize why I dislike "I got my tickets done, I can take the rest of the day/week off"-I mean, aside from the federal time card fraud crime part

- Everything's broken
- Our best code is still somewhat broken
- We fix it until we run out of time
-"I got my tickets done" is an arbitrary quitting time, it means "I worked until I didn't feel like working on it anymore"

There is an element of "definition of done" and did it pass process, but that is a fiction we project over the reality of coding

Clarification because this is social media: "Eight hours for work, eight hours for rest and eight hours for what you will." is still a fair slogan

More clarification because people are hypersensitive to autonomy issues: You don't have to rest eight hours, you could do 16 hours of rest or 16 hours of what you will, or linear combinations there of, not like anyone is watching you.
