The words "intelligence" and "conscious" haven't been solved for humans. Applying these words in IT is going to be problematic.
By analogy, this is like taking a stand on if an LLM has a Christian soul, if has an Hindu atman, if it has a Tathāgatagarbha. It might be fun to discuss, but it isn't helpful for deciding what to do with LLMs.

Philosophy is the pursuit of answering unsolvable answers where the only valid answer is, well, we don't know, it isn't knowable, it isn't possible to know if it is knowable.
