@kodizen GnuCOBOL works on a windows 11 machine, I now because I installed it yesterday and successfully compiled and ran an app. Cost $0 and some futzing with env vars

IBM's x86 linux at least doesn't require a mainframe (I think? I couldn't download without getting on their mailing list)

Microfocus is going thru a reorg and their website doesn't have the personal version available for download at the moment. Who knows, maybe they'll go bankrupt and it will be abandonware.
