The experience of shopping for a home server has not improved. I finally ended up with a new minipc on account of worries about noise, electricity use vs a similarly priced old machine. It appears that AI is commandeering so much of the memory market that the supply of chips are drying up, so I settled for 32gb.

The guys doing youtube reviews, they have a intuitive feel for price, value and performance in many scenarios and the graphs and flood of numbers just don't translate into me having the same feel for "yeah this is fast enough for something"
