Roughly, it is parasitism. Systems lead to leaders with positive qualities (because they got the most votes or they successfully consolidated power via social skills), get hijacked by parasites that fake it. And maybe prisoners-dilemma game with cooperation- lots of the worst people promote one of their own to get to the top. Anyhow, still a pretty good book but I'm so ill of having Trump in my head, my next book I hope has no mention of Trump or his fictional counterpart.
