govtech esoterica- NARA doesn't have a Records metadata standard for electronic files, but Library of Congress has four? (BagIt and METS/MODS/MADS?) NIST has NERDm, (I take offense, thank you). DoD/DoW's DDMS was DOA now in memoriam in WBM (wayback machine). I'm too poor to think about ISO 23081. That standard is for rich people.

Last time I was at NARA, a record was a sheet of paper and they were still thinking, "well, what about electronic records" and I think they're still thinking that. They are the warehouses for the US Gov't paper and imho, when digital records came along no one thought, "Gee, NARA should now be a collection of data centers full of retro computers AND warehouses"
