While hacking on my markpickle library I ran into markdown-to-json and have been hacking with the author to do maintenance development and today I got 2.1.0 published, all modernized and shiny.

Markpickle handles more scenarios, but now shares one of the key algorithms from markdown-to-json because it was just a better algorithm.
